Firstly, what a lovely site. The idea of measuring things in "bourbons" and "kilobourbons" made me laugh out loud :)
Anyway, I have an important question; one that I think only you can answer.
*drum roll* How do you pronounce "Nice" when referring to that particular type of biscuit. On your site, you seem to be of the opinion it is "Nice" as in "not nasty"; with an "eye" sound in the middle, as you often mention how they are not actually "Nice" at all.
However, I have heard many people pronounce it as if it rhymed with "fleece"; like the town "Nice", in France.
Can you please clear up this matter as it has been bothering me for many years. I often find all conversation during a nice cup of tea and a sit down comes to a complete halt as soon as the "Nice" biscuits come out, and descends into argument.

||At school at the moment we're doing an investigation on biscuit dunking, and we're testing Nice biscuits, Shortcake biscuits and Malted Milks. Your site is really useful, because i managed to find pictures of two of the biscuits there, but please please please can you put on a picture of a nice biscuit? Even though they are pretty vile biscuits! I need the picture and i can't find one anywhere else on the net!!!|
|Nicey replies: I'm afraid I'm not prepared to take a picture of the nice biscuit even to help your school project. You will need to undertake this potentially hazardous task your self using some form of digital camera. Alternately you could probably bung one under a scanner and try that. If people can scan cats then I'm sure a biscuit should work..|
I would like to thank you for highlighting the Abbey Crunch, a biscuit which surely deserves greater popularity. Since returning from Germany (a land poor in natural biscuit resources) I have been disappointed to find the breed absent from supermarket shelves. Hopefully your sterling work may save this unparalleled dunking-confection from extinction.
I look forward to reading your thoughts on the Fox's Crinkle Crunch. You would be advised to try the superb Butter flavour as all the rest are disappointing. Especially the rubbish cream-based varieties.

I agree, to a degree, with you opinion about Petits Beurres. But have you tried the "Galettes Bretonnes"? LU make them and they are lovely although if you go to Bretagne you can get home made ones which are to die for.
When I was a kid in France, we used to put Nutella on them (I was 8) but now think that they are the best biscuit around. With dark chocolate digestives, obviously.

No I haven't tried them, next time I'm in France I 'll give them a chance. Home made ones do sound interesting, a lovely lady in Perigord, Mdm Mouliner, used to make Walnut tarts for me using the walnuts from the tree I camped under, they were delicious. Hoorah for Walnut trees.
I once heard of a French girl, a friend of friend, mistake Marmite for Nutella a spreading about half a jar on a bit of bread. She was so truamatised after taking a bite that she had to cut short her study visit by several weeks and return to France.
||There is nothing wrong with nice biscuits. they have sugar (which is great) and they helped me through the early parts of my childhood along with Cow biscuits (which go great with a nice glass of milk - 4 year olds don't drink tea). Pink wafers are also full of sugary goodness and have the interest factor of being pink. As I think now there are very few pink foods which is a shame is the wafers are anything to go by.|
P.S. I was recently shocked to find a teenager who had never heard of figrolls. What is wrong with the world?
|Nicey replies: I've been drinking tea from the age of three, (milky weak and sweet back then), but all biscuits are good with milk. Hoorah.
I think you'll find that strawberry blancmange is the benchmark pink food.
I hope the teenager in question has now been introduced to the wider world of biscuits.
