Fazer Fasu Pala Review |
Dear Mr Nicey,
I visited a friend in Finland in January this year, and brought back a couple of packs of Fazer chocolate wafer biscuits - one pack was mint, the other was coffee truffle. Both were excellent. One could say that Fazer is the 'Cadbury of Finland' - although in my opinion Fazer chocolate tastes better than Cadbury's on the whole - and its chocolate bars are also very good to have together with tea. |

Hiya Nicey,
Long time reader first time poster . I have read the many posts about cartoonies , much to my despise i was walking down the aisle of our local Tesco store At 3.30 AM like you do ... only to find that there is a new version of Cartoonies , Only to be produced under the name "Animal Bites" by Cadburys...
Hoorar i thought as i loaded 3 boxes into the basket - somethign to tell the boys ( and girls) on the site.... !
I got home, and unpacked, obviously the first thing that came out of the shopping bag were the boxes of Animal Bites They sat there waiting to be eaten.....
I proceeded to open the box and take out a packet... opening the bag i inhaled deeply, thinking to myself that they smell fairly similar to cartoonies... I then bit into one... the biscuit , crunchy like they used to be , but the chocolate.. Ahh what a let down ... It wasnt an unpleasent experience , but not at all what i expected.. its solid cadburys chocolate , and it just doesnt taste like it used to , however... the three boxes have discipated into 2 bags now ( 5 bags per box...)
All in all not a bad substitute, but still dont taste like the real thing... tis such a shame they have stopped making them... Almsot brings a tear to my ee.. * snifle*
Keep up the Good Work .... MiKeY G

Tim Tam vs Penguin Review |
TIM TAM MESS(AGE)
Participants,
Lizzie age over 30
Paul age over 40
Chloe age 13 and 2 days
Elise age 8
First of all I have to say that following my family's TIM TAM SLAM taste test, the following guidelines should be made widely available to other folk -
1 Tea must be very hot - any cooler and the results are not reliable.
2 Make sure that you bite off diagonal corners - failure to bite off the correct bits will leave the taster in a state of unenlightenment.
3 Suck tea vigorously and noisily through the biscuit, only practice tells you the right time to stop, although any longer than three seconds will almost certainly cause the biscuit to implode into a chocolatey mess.
4 Under nines should only carry out a TIM TAM SLAM test under the supervision of an adult due to the difficulty in removing chocolate stains from clothes and carpets.
Nevertheless. fun was had by all, the Tim Tams were excellent and no creatures including penguins were injured or harmed in any way during the test proceedures.
Best wishes
Chloe Milton

Dear Nicey,
I have a colleague who disagrees with me on what should be a very clear subject. I was hoping you and your crack team of biscuit related matter gurus could help out.
My colleague believes whole heartedly the humble Kit Kat is a biscuit rather than a chocolate bar. Surely he is mistaken or possessed.
Please clarify and allow the turmoil to cease. |
Nicey replies: Nestle themselves are deliberately evasive on this whole area. As I have said before I consider the KitKat a transitional form right on the boundary between chocolate bar and biscuit, sort of the Archaeopteryx of the biscuit/chocolate world. |

Lu Mikado Review |
Hello nicey,
I'm a newcomer to your site (great concept, by the way) and I noticed this article about Mikado biscuits. Like you, I also wondered initially what the Gibbons they were until my France vacation in early February, where one of my friends purchased them out of sheer boredom and I then had the privilege to indulge myself in the taste of one.
Yes, they are indeed Japanese - I guessed them before trial just by looking at the idiosyncratic design of the packaging and also the sound of the name. They are truly delicious, there's an adequate amount in each pack and above all, they include chocolate that actually tastes of chocolate. What more can a snacker ask for? |
