Tregroes Toffee Waffles Review |
Dear Nicey,
During a recent trip to Amsterdam with the wife and junior member of staff, I brought you back a box of siroopwaffalen to review. Unfortunately due to the combined effects of said junior member of staff standing on my suitcase and the volcanic heat that is emitted from London Underground's heaters, the waffles were irreparably damaged.
Ashamed by my carelessness and inadequate packing, I throw the waffles to the back of the biscuit cupboard. However, after reading your excellent review of the 'inferior' Tregroes Toffee Waffles, I tried microwaving my Dutch waffles and eating them with vanilla ice cream. Oh joy of joys! Thank you for your wonderful tip. My taste buds haven't stopped thanking me for the last two weeks. Junior member of staff has even tried them with custard but I find this makes the waffle too squidgey and all together too unstable.
Thank you for your fantastic website and keep up the excellent work.
Yours

Nicey replies: I had a similar problem on a WAGN train with a Tunnock's wafer a couple of weeks ago.

Tregroes Toffee Waffles Review |
Hi Nicey,
At my place of work we try to get Biscuit of the Week in wherever possible, so last week an order for Tregroes Toffee Waffles duly arrived and were greatly enjoyed. The chocolate ones being so large, rich and luxuriant that even I, possibly the most dedicated biscuiteer of the office, could only manage one.
Anyway my reason for writing is to let fellow waffle fans know that as well as Pret a Manger, Starbucks also sell caramel waffles, in packs of two. And the Starbucks ones are supplied by Tregroes! This nugget of information was included in my despatch note from Tregroes and I thought it well worthy of sharing.
Cheers,
Kathy Sadler |

Tregroes Toffee Waffles Review |
Having worked for the London branch of a Dutch bank for many years, I became addicted to 'siroopwaffalen' (I believe thy're called) on my business trips to Amsterdam.
Recently, I found that the London Wall branch of the sandwich bar Pret a Manger has started to stock the Syrup waffles, albeit at an extortionate price.
However, when you have the uncontrollable desire for a toffee waffle (placed over the top of your cup of tea for a few minutes, to warm and slightly melt to toffee filling), then any price is worth paying.

Morning Nicey,
Long time no speak. I can inform your reader Emma that the toffee pop is to be found alive and well in my local Spar, do they have Spar's in Taiwan?? I still buy them regularly, partly because they're great and partly because you get a miserly 8 in a pack so frequent purchases are inevitably necessary.
Jim. |
